Howard Marks, co-founder and co-chairman of Oaktree Capital Management, puts out a memo to clients and the public every so often. It is always a thoughtful memo I enjoy reading in the evenings. I find we think similarly on many economic and market issues. Check out the most recent one here:

Intro to Financial Markets

I think that it is important that everyone has a basic understanding of finance and financial markets. We have two official languages English and Finance. If you want to thrive you should learn both. If you want your kids to thrive, they should too. Here is a good free resource by Robert Shiller, offered by Yale through Coursera:
